Many of today's Christian parents were saved midway through life. As they raise up their children (and especially their daughters) in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, they do well to warn them and help them avoid the mistakes they have made in life. But often their counsel is met with resistance. Why? Could it be that insecurity and fears could be avoided as much by walking with them through the little things as by warning them of the big things? Anna Downer points out the special ways her father, Phil Downer, found to do just that. With a safe place to open up and quality time for dialog, they connected not only on a level of high ideals but of higher identity.
