How to Conquer the Tyranny of the Urgent

Many tyrants have fallen before God’s faithful servants, as Goliath before David, but is it possible that any of us can control that giant we face now, the ever-growing tyrant of urgency, disorder, and distraction? II Chronicles records one king who did. “He did that which was right in the sight of the Lord” and “became mighty, because . . .” Though his epitaph may be short, the character trait which he applied can lengthen the day of any believer on the stretch of life today. Of all Roger Magnuson’s compelling injunctions, there is good reason this “urgent message” has become one of his most frequently watched.

  1. A powerful message. The secret is seeking first the Kingdom of God and nailing down an unbreakable order in our lives of meeting with God first. I especially liked what Roger Magnuson did with his exercise time. He memorized large portions of Scripture. It clearly was a time where he doubled his return on his investment. The message causes me to evaluate the need to Conquer the Urgent and replace it with what is most important before the Lord.
