See Christ in His Commands
I have a picture that makes a great object lesson. I will hand it to a person and ask him to tell me what it is a picture of. The person will often look at it, study it, and turn it different ways but will not be able to tell me what it is. However, when I point out the cow’s head in the picture, he suddenly “sees” it.
The Scriptures are often the same way. We can sometimes look at them, study them, and analyze them, and yet not see the real picture. This was the experience of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. They had looked at the Scriptures and knew them well when Jesus pointed out to them the “hidden picture” that they had not previously seen. (See Luke 24:13–32.)
