Honor Your Parents’ Position
One day an enthusiastic young man named Chris came to discuss with me the possibility of working full-time with the ministry. As we talked, I asked him what his parents thought of his plans. He replied that his father’s desire and counsel was for him to work with him in business for three years before going into full-time Christian work. I urged him to follow his father’s counsel, to which Chris agreed. As he chose to honor his father’s wishes, he decided to spend not just three years but ten years working with his father.
