Put Out Fires!
When we offend others, or when they perceive that we have wronged them, a destructive fire is kindled within them. The hurt feelings, vengeful thoughts, and angry reactions feed the emotional--and damaging spiritually--fire. The longer we allow the anger to burn, the more damage will result in their lives and in the lives of those to whom the fire spreads. Because of this, God commands: “If thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift" (Matthew 5:23–24).
